Are You Know ?

Ranking in JEE Main is one of the criteria on which admissions into India’s most prestigious engineering colleges, including NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), and GFTIs (Government-Funded Technical Institutes), take place. It varies from person to person as it depends upon rank, category, home state quota, and preferred branch.

If you want to know which college can you get as per your JEE Main rank, you can understand Rank-Wise College and Branch Allocation here in this guide.

Understanding JoSAA Counseling

JoSAA conducts counseling to get admission to the NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs through a rank obtained by the student in JEE Main. Learn about it below:

Seat allocations are done at the time of counseling through choices filled, depending on JEE Main Rank as well as categories.

Home State Quota vs. Other State Quota: 50% seats available in NITs are strictly for home state students, rest is for all other states.

Reservation Policies: SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD candidates have specific reserved seats having a lower cutoff rank.

Rounds of Counseling: There are multiple rounds of JoSAA counseling. The cutoffs vary round-wise based on availability and seat vacancy.
